Fashion (design clothes) Major? Textile Engineering Major?

Hello,

I have two pen pals who live outside the US. One of them has attended and graduated from the university in the country of their origin with a degree Fashion Design but wants to attend some classes in the US, not for credit, but to learn something new and get some experience with both Fashion Designing and English for a year.

They have yet to attempt to take the TOEFL test.

Are there any Fashion Design Majors in North Carolina that allows for Non-Degree students?

If there aren’t would a Textile Engineering Major be a good equivalence?

If there are, are there any restrictions or requirements necessary to apply for the school (i.e. TOEFL test).

Thanks.

I have no idea about schools in ncarolina although I hear FIT and Parsons, both in ny, are amazing

Also, textile engenizering from what I understand sometimes entails more of a science of fibers and weaving but depends on the school. Maybe look at course descriptions?
Don’t know about TOEFL though.sorry
