I say do whatever makes you feel comfortable. Sure, there are some people that care how your legs look. But many (like me) will be looking mostly at the smile that you wear … and watching the bridal party.
Good grief folks. Definitely wear the sandal foot pantyhose with the shoes of choice. Shame on anyone so superficial they diss wedding guests- or the bride- who chooses this. I would avoid spray tans- what do you do if the tan looks bad?
“Might be an old lady…” Guess what- you would look worse trying to look like a twenty something. btw- I have decided middle age is before 60, those of us over 60 are old, but those 80 plus year olds like our parents are elderly. One can be age appropriately stylish. I go to my area women’s club meetings and while I wear a nice T shirt and shorts I see old and elderly women who do dress with more flair. Some year to have to realize you are your age and generation. Most of these ladies do wear dresses just above the knee. Paying so much attention to appearances is for the young who are hunting for a spouse (even if only subconsciously).
Finally- no one is looking at you, they are paying attention to the bride. Relax and enjoy without being self conscious.
Addenda. Just posted on the comfy clothes thread. I would hope you are invited to the event for your personality and mind, and not your appearance. Relax and be comfortable with yourself.
@wis75 - The OPs sense of self awareness is not the question she’s posed. She wants to know if hosiery should be worn with open toed shoes. I agree with the many of the posters - no! It looks funny and visibly squished toes actually draw the eye downward…far worse than pale legs.
I got a spray tan a few weeks ago - for the first time in my life. It turned out flawlessly - really fantastic. Had I known how easy and perfect it looks, I would have started going years ago. Great before a vacation or a big event. I went to Exotic Tan - a spray booth - voice tells you what to do. Choice of color: light, medium, or dark. I’m very pale…blonde with blue eyes - I chose medium. When I think of spray tans, I think of a deep, orange-y shade, but this was very natural looking and flawless - I could never self-apply to get it so even. It took all of 15 minutes @$25.
@wis75 … obviously OP cares about her appearance. We were answering her question. You can be stylish without trying to look like a 20 year old. Staying firm. No pantyhose with open toe shoes…ever.
So I guess we’re members of the “no hose barred” club; )
OP, please report back on what you do and what other women were wearing.
I’m all about being comfortable… but gotta say I don’t care for this style (seen in a few ads lately) of sandals with socks.
I wouldn’t judge somebody else if it’s their thing (or if it becomes fashionable and lots of people choose it), but not for me…
