I am going to a wedding on Saturday. My dress is slightly above the knee. I want to wear pantyhose because I hate my knees and my legs are winter white. Problem is that I can’t find a pair of stylish shoes with a closed toe. Is it ever okay to wear an open toe shoe with pantyhose? My gut says no.
Isn’t that why they have sandalfoot pantyhose?
I am probably the last person who should give fashion advice, but I think it’s fine.
No one will notice your toe seam so please don’t worry. You could try to tuck in under your foot but don’t make yourself crazy.
Don’t do it!
sandel foot pantyhose…and no heel is your are wearing a sling back.
I wouldn’t wear hose with an open toe shoe.
You still have time for two applications of Neutrogena Sunless Tanning.
Lol. Thank you. I think I better keep looking for shoes with a closed toe. Or a longer dress to wear with sandals.
There are pantyhose that don’t have a closed toe. I’ve worn them before with peep toed shoes. You can get them at Macy’s. There is a hole for your big toe, and then another longer hole for your other four toes. They work well.
I agree to give the Neutrogena a try - if you don’t like the results by Saturday, put on the hose if that makes you feel comfortable.
I think this time of year you will find that there will be many, many white bare legs there though!!!
Conmama’s idea is a good one. Google “open toe pantyhose” and you will get lots of options.
Time for a new pair of shoes.
Or you could just use Dermablend body makeup in your skin tone. It is very easy to apply and makes a giant difference. It gives a very polished and dressier look than bare legs. And it is not noticeable. Way easier and more natural looking than self-tanner.
Re closed-toe shoes: look for slingbacks. They often have closed toes.
My problem with the pantyhose-less thing is how my feet blister wearing heels. How do you all overcome the blisters? Btw…I say no to hose with sling backs or open toes.
The OP doesn’t like her knees…even a tan won’t hide that (I’m assuming wrinkles like mine). Open Toed Pantyhose s a very nice alternative. I wore mine in the winter when my legs were white. Got the lightest shade I could. My heels were not sling back, but had a small peep toe. It looked fine with the dress.
The no-hose-with-open-toed-shoes rule makes sense – toes look weird smooshed into hose and then there is the seam – but what is wrong with hose and slingbacks? Never knew that was a problem!
"…what is wrong with hose and slingbacks? Never knew that was a problem!
Some styles of hose have reinforced heel area that looks like a darker patch sewn on. Definitely not to be worn with open heel shoes!
I do not like my wrinkly knees either, so it is either a longer dress or hose for me!
Be careful if you go with a tanning lotion for your legs! When one of my kids was graduating from a college in the South a few years ago, I was faced with a similar white leg problem. I decided to apply a tanner to my legs. It worked well and I thought I looked pretty good. That is, until we were walking to a restaurant afterwards. My husband and I were leading the group, with our kids behind us and I heard them giggling. My daughter, barely able to contain herself asked if I had applied tanning make-up and pointed at the calf on one of my legs where you could clearly see a line of tan and white!
Go get a spray tan…anything… but don’t wear pantyhose with open toe shoes. My college age daughters frown upon nude pantyhose all together. I might be an old lady but I don’t want to look like one. I try to take some fashion pointers from them, with moderation. Yup I am now the proud owner of a Le Pilage tote.
