Another vote for Alistair Sim’s Christmas Carol
Any and all Doctor Who Christmas specials
Scrooged
and the ultimate Christmas movie - Die Hard
Full metal jacket… LOL
Some of the older war movies do make good Christmas movies though, IMO.
Love, actually!!
Never thought of Bridget Jones as a Xmas movie, but I can see it now! Might have to watch it again!
Thanks everyone !
“Muppet Christmas Carol” is THE BEST…I love the songs.
Plus, I love when Beaker gives Scrooge his scarf.
Die Hard
My current favorite is Elf.
Previous favorite is Christmas Vacation. Just bought it on dvd this year - missed watching it and we only had it on vhs.
Regarding different versions - I prefer the remake of Miracle on 34th St. and my husband’s favorite Christmas Carol is the one with Reginald Owen.
Feeling sentimental this year with my freshman son at college, so I ordered this:

Guess I can’t post an actual image. Hope the link works. Anyone else have fond memories of Arthur’s Perfect Christmas?
The Ref
The Grinch (both animated and Jim Carrey)
Scrooged
Die Hard
Trading Places
Because I forgot to watch at Thanksgiving, we will also watch Pieces of April.
Home for the Holidays with Holly Hunter (and directed by Jodie Foster). Depressing, dysfunctional, hilarious.
Far From the Madding Crowd…Carey Mulligan, Matthias Schoenaerts, Michael Sheen
A wonderfully decorated tree, gifts, fancy Christmas party at the rich man’s mansion…things go downhill from there
A Christmas Story
Christmas Vacation
Christmas in Connecticut
Not a movie, but A Charlie Brown Christmas
@beerme I love the 1998 version of Far from the Madding Crowd with Paloma Baeza (thought she was pitch perfect for the role), Nathaniel Parker and Jonathan Firth. Will check out the new one.
Julie Christie as Bathsheba Everdene in the 1967 Far From the Madding Crowd was not a good casting choice…
^That is too bad because I like Julie Christie. I thought Paloma’s performance was emotionally complex enough for the journey and Nathaniel solid in his humble steady role. But I will check out the new one.
Elf
Christmas Vacation
Nightmare Before Christmas
Someone just shared this list of their favorite Christmas/holiday movies on my fb feed. I am putting together a list of movies that we can all watch when my nephews and nieces(wide range of ages) visit for the holidays.

My wife and I love the new version of Miracle of 34th st. We watch that every year.
We also enjoy the Trans Siberian Orchestra DVD which tells a Christmas tale of a runaway. Makes us cry every time and we thank God our kids are still with us.
Babette’s Feast would be an off the beaten path celebratory choice.
Hugo based on the Invention of Hugo Cabret
Narnia where it is always Christmas (rock on Tilda Swinton)
