Favorite Holiday Movies

In the thread on how you spend Christmas with your immediate family there were a few movie references. So what are you favorite holiday movies.

Mine - the old Christmas Carol with Alistair Sim (nobody plays scrooge better), A Christmas in Connecticut (an oldie that you can usually catch on TMC this time of year), and A Christmas Story which runs all Christmas day on TV.

The Bishop’s Wife with Cary Grant and Loretta Young.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles with Steve Martin and John Candy; and of course, It’s a Wonderful Life. Love the scene with Mary’s mother when George is downstairs fumbling for conversation, oblivious to Mary’s flirting. Mother: “Who are you talking to?” Mary: “It’s George Bailey.” Mother: “GEORGE BAILEY! What does HE want?”

“The Family Stone” and “Love, Actually.”

Don’t laugh but a recent favorite has been Bridget Jones’ Diary – just a bit of Xmas in it, but all in the right places

Will be seeing Christmas Story live tonite with H. “Kids” will fend for themselves.

Love, Actually!! I love Bridget Jones, and you are right…it could count as a nice XMAS movie. That is when I discovered Cilin Firth and had my first adult movie star crush. I’m just fell head over heels for Mark Darcy.

White Christmas all the way. I hadn’t thought about Bridget Jones as a Christmas movie but that’s an inspired idea! In a similar vein, our favorite New Year’s film is When Harry Met Sally.

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
Die Hard

When my children were still, well, children, we would rent movies on New Year’s Eve. The best and weirdest combination by far was “Dude, Where’s My Car?” and “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.” Ah, I miss my family!

Elf
Edward Scissorhands
The Night Before-2015

Home Alone (1 & 2). Need I say more?

Christmas with the Kranks, Holiday Inn

Elf.

The Holiday

^^^^all of the above! Including @rosered55’s movies with kids. For the most part, I cringed at their choices, but I still treasure the memories of sitting next to them on the couch and listening to them laugh at those stupid movies.
