Did anyone else’s student submit an application for the FBI Honors Internship Program for next summer?
I’ve seen anecdotal information that indicates competition for this internship is greater than for actual Special Agent positions. Annual application submissions approach 13,000+ for roughly 1,200 positions nationwide. That’s close to Ivy acceptance rates with a polygraph, background check and drug testing thrown in for good measure.
I’m not confident my son will make it to the “Conditional Job Offer” phase because he’s just beginning classes in his applicable major, and though his current GPA is above their specified threshold, I’m sure he’ll be competing with excellent students carrying 3.8+ GPAs that are further along in their studies. Should he reach the interview/polygraph/drug test/background investigation phase I believe his chances of earning an internship rise dramatically. Quite simply, he’s built for a career like this, it’s how he is wired.
