Yeah… i’m sure some of u have been to these, i was wondering what they were like… also most importantly in which area did you compete in. I am having a hard time deciding where i want to compete. Since i am in 10th grade i can take advantage of the categories only for 9 and 10th graders. I heard there was a typing contest and how fast you can type is that word processing? help anyone. also anyone know anthig about the topic business calculations

I’m a junior and I’m competing in Business Communications.

Just to clarify, Word Processing isn’t a “who can type the fastest” type competition…it tests formatting (although I suppose you need to type relatively quickly in order to finish the test on time). Business Calculations is really easy too, but since you’re a sophomore, you would have to compete in Business Math (essentially the same thing). Definitely take advantage of the 9th and 10th graders only events while you have the chance.

^scroll down to the very bottom to find some sample tests…I suggest you take a few, and see which one you score the best in…actually, for the real test, you get 60 minutes for 100 questions (the website just gives you a few sample questions for each category).

thanks for the links…

now i am consdering business math and accounting 1

please respond if you have taken either of these exams, it would be of great help. i am in accoutning 1 and i am doing fine in it so im considering that but business math seems easy and i can take advantage of the 9th and 10th grade only caterogies… i really want to do well… does anyone have suggestisons between these 2 events

BUsiness Math is easy. You should probably take that. I took the test in sophomore year and i placed 2nd at district. I then placed 5th at state.

just a quick bump after many years hoping for a response. does the business math test have only math or are there multiple choice/true-false that are not calculations?

It really depends. The tests tend to be different at every conference, and it really depends on your state, too. Be prepared for both.

ok thanks. also, do you have an idea of a score out of 100 needed to advance to states? that is my main goal for the time being. i do not have a business math course and i’m very good at the math part, but most of the other parts are just based off of common knowledge i have. i really just hope to advance to states and then if i do i will study for it when the time comes

Hey guys! I’m not even interested in going into business but I find FBLA to be so much fun! Last year at Nationals in Nashville me and my partner won 2nd place for Video Production. Neither of us are into business! Yes, it was a lot of work and stress… but TONS of fun. I wouldn’t take any of those test unless you really know the topic well… stick to a competitive event so you can prepare! It all depends on your state and who your competing against. If you hear x high school always excels in x event… take that into serious consideration.
