This is simply opinion, and I think that the anwers will stack up in one direction, but lets see anyway.

I think fear is good.

Although it can be quite unpleasant and in large doses, fatal (well, everything in moderation though) fear is a very effective defense mechanism. Through it, one can achieve greater amounts of physical strength and mental sharpness.

I would agree that fear is a good thing, as long as it stays within reason. If fear becomes too intense, or people do not manage it, it can break down their ability to reason and cause problems.

So maybe I might summarize that by saying fear is good, but terror is bad.

The fear of not getting homework/other stuff done on time makes me stop my procrastination. Fear in that sense is good. But imiracle911 is right, phobia is bad. I for one have a phobia of roses w/ excessive petals. Weird, but true! And it’s not a good thing, because when I see it, it drives me insane and I want to grind my teeth and tear it up. So phobias are bad things. They’re craaazy.

I am not sure what I think about “respecting” someone because you fear them.

Fear is a good thing if it causes you to make something positive out of it, work harder, etc. But if someone is fearing for their safety or life, thats a bad thing. People need a sense of security.
