Featured Threads

Is there a way to change the featured threads?

Both of the featured threads are 3 years old and neither portray a very positive image of Penn State. The answer to the second thread is that we are already recovering. Since the University reportedly had more applications this year than in previous years, I think it’s safe to say that our reputation as a world class university has withstood the scandal.

As for the first thread, there is supplemental housing everywhere and if you get your housing deposit in late, you will probably be in supplemental housing. They tell you this up front when you are accepted. Not sure why it has to be a featured thread.

Anyway, regardless of how anyone feels about the topic of the threads, the fact is, the last comments on either thread are at least a year old and thus should not, in my opinion, be “Featured”.

Anyone know how to get these changed?

I’ve noticed the same thing. Those threads are outdated and inappropriate. The negativity seems intentional and is a disservice to interested applicants and the newly accepted.

not a conspiracy guy, but you know, I agree. Just go visit the talk sections of UVa and UNC. Where’s the featured threads of their scandals?
Especially UNC! a wide-spread ACADEMIC integrity issue with the athletic department.

seems to me that threads that get the most traffic, other than decisions, are those that discuss 2+2 options or Summer/LEAP. Highlighting those would be appropriate and a help to the community.

You need to PM the Moderator to change the threads. I do not know how to do that…anyone?

This is being handled. Should be changed by next week. Mods cannot change these, only administrators.

Done!

Yea!! Thanks for the assistance @fallenchemist. I wasn’t sure if bringing it up would do anything - but I’m glad I did. I like the new featured threads much better and they seem much more applicable!

Happy to help, @jlhpsu‌. It only makes sense that the featured threads should be useful and up-to-date, when possible.
