When you hear about highly accomplished students getting rejected and waitlisted while mediocre ones getting accepted, it’s not “holistic”, it’s rigged.

How do you define “highly accomplished” and “mediocre”? Colleges don’t admit from highest stats down, and unless you see the applications and all the materials I don’t see how you could determine which students are more deserving of acceptance.

Some actually do admit from highest stats down, but those are probably not the ones that the previous poster considers desirable.
