Even if the kids did know, why would they care? Considering their parents are willing to do this in the first place, they obviously weren’t raised to care about cheating to get into college.
Can’t seem to get accurate facts on how many were actually indicted.
Here is a full list of those indicted: https://www.justice.gov/usao-ma/investigations-college-admissions-and-testing-bribery-scheme
Yet again confirmation that getting straight As, 100s of hours doing community service, varsity sports and working isn’t what gets you into top colleges.
Boston Globe named the former Yale women’s soccer coach, Rudolph Meredith, as being indicted on two counts.
Guardian has another name
“Federal prosecutors in Boston charged William “Rick” Singer, 58, with running the racketeering scheme through his Edge College & Career Network”
Felicity Huffman is named, but not her husband, William Macy. Wonder if he didn’t know, or more likely just let her handle everything…
The Yale head women’s soccer coach charging document is particularly damning, she apparently took bribes directly from an applicants father in a hotel room encounter that was filmed by the FBI.
Appears that a total of 50 individuals were charged; four by information (probably cooperating witnesses/participants), several indicted and many charged by complaint.
Well it’s like universities getting 10 million before their kids get accepted… Isn’t that a bribe? UCLA, USC, STANFORD, YALE & Wake… Yale coach women soccer arrested! Stanford Coach also arrest! (missed who it is)
This is CRAZY! Operation Varsity Blues =D>
This is in no way surprising to me.
So far I’ve seen USC crew and Yale women’s soccer affected.
not surprising. Yale’s best female soccer player in the last 20 years was a straight walk on. They also were not particularly active along with peer institutions in recruiting. But since they are a top Ivy in women’s soccer you actually have to try not to have good players reach out to you.
I just cannot get my head around this.
The worst is them having you see a therapist, get a testing preference and someone takes your test. And the proctor is in the bag too.
Of course the kids know. You all know how much work goes into the applications. You don’t think they know their test scores and testing dates. Now for coaching bribes. Maybe not.
Wow. This is huge. Meanwhile, over in the test prep forum, there’s the long-running thread about ordinary kids being accused of cheating. Pretty shocking story.
The press conference is very illuminating!
I can’t watch the press conference, update me with new details!
