is it true that if your school sends ppl to pton almost every year, then they will almost consider your school a feeder school and say the top few will get in? my school has never sent anyone to pton.

sort of, if your school has a special relationship with a certain college then they will not want to ruin that relationship by denying applicants. applicants in feeder schools have an edge. but just because a school sent 5 ppl to princeton last year doesnāt mean its a feeder school. lets just say that my school is the exact opposite of a feeder school for princeton. one of our college counselors used to work in admissions for princeton, but she left bc she didnāt like the way they worked. i dont think weāve sent anyone to princeton in about 4 years. meanwhile about 10 ppl get into harvard every year (about 120 students per grade), and more for yale upenn and brown. we have about 40 kids applying to brown this year. thats absurd! i digress.

I certainly hope not. Unfortunately it seems that children of priveledge at top boarding schools are afforded better chances and more spots at schools like Princeton than normal students. Iām in a position like you, pāton wābe, as no one from my high school has gone to Princeton since 1979, and there have only been 3 Ivy matriculants EVER from my HS.
BTW, if you get rejected (as I probably will be) take a look at the admissions numbers at schools like Philips Andover. Look at how many go to Princeton. It is sick.

darn. this school in my region sents like 2 ppl to pton each year. for intl, they only accept around 5 - 6 each year from my region. darn.

sadly enough, thatās more than are accepted from my [non-international] region, pw.

by region, i meant the entire province of british Columbia.

by āregionā, I meant the entire state of Kentucky, which has the same population as British Columbia :/

So weāll both be ārare thingsā if we make the cut

do you think you are the only one who applied from Kentuck ED? would it be a major prop or a little one if it were so?

It would help, I thinkā¦but Iām sure there are more. I doubt there are more than 20 or so statewide, though. (I donāt actually know of anyāthat was just a random guess.)

yah, but say you were the only one - how much do you think it would help: a lot, a little, almost guarantees your admission?

A lot, I think. I dunno about guaranteeing admission (only a cancer cure could do that, it seems). But I believe it would probably help. A few years back Princeton accepted no one from Kentuckyā¦ED or RD.

113 people sent scores to Princeton from KY this year, but many of those wonāt apply, and few will apply ED. (This guy I know did it because he didnāt know what to put after U. of Kyā¦so he just put āPrincetonā because I had mentioned it (?) ā¦haha, I was flattered.)

yeah⦠i hate all those recruited athletes from my region⦠how closely do they stick to the game plan of how many admittees from each region anyway?

wow Keb, thatās really interesting. How do you know how many from your state sent scores? Donāt tell me you went door to door! :D

the state by state reports for 2004 are in, go here:

none of the Ivies made it onto New Yorkās list.

thatās a good sign for you, zant.

Oh and regarding feeder schools, I think Andover would be one. My school has a pretty good relationship with Princeton but itās undervalued by the students. Students tend to focus more on Harvard and Yale (who we donāt have such good relationships withā¦I heard that someone did something really bad to Yale, but we still send about five-ten kids to each every year). Both of my college counselors used to work at Columbia. I would say we have a good percentage going to Ivies each year (like, 30% or more?) On the other hand, nobody every goes to MIT or CalTech, but I think thatās because weāre a very humanities-oriented school.

filmxoxo, do you go to Dalton?

omg 30%. You make me want to cry
