Hi, sorry if I posted this in the wrong category. (new to the site)

Anyways, I started college as a freshman this fall semester in biomedical and ended up switching my classes and major to computer programming and absolutely hate it. I thought I could make a ton of money in programming, but then it hit me recently, it really isn’t about the money. I’m really wanting to change my major back to biomedical for the spring semester, but only one of my classes will transfer to biomedical. I’m just really worried that programming will drop my GPA and that I will lose my pell grant for the next two semesters since I have absolutely no interest in it all and find it hard to concentrate. My question is, do you think it was kind of a waste to do this semester or was is it good I’m changing it back this early in my college career? Also, IF I do fail a class in programming, will I lose my pell grant?

I would definitely talk to an academic advisor. They would be able to help you figure out if this is feasible, in terms of the course requirements. They computer science courses might be able to fulfill elective requirements, if nothing else.
A financial aid advisor would also be able to help with the concerns about pell grants.

I agree with nanotechnology. It is best if you consult you adviser about your problem. He or she would know better on what to do and how to help you.

It is good that you found out this early because now you KNOW that this isn’t the area for you. Now you can focus on where you think you would fit best. Hey, you’re not always supposed to know what you are going to do for the rest of your life at age 18.

Talk to your advisor. You probably won’t lose your PELL grant.

Don’t stress too much. Follow the advice of others, and it’s good that you know what you want to do early. Many find out late and have to catch up or graduate late.
