Feeling Hopeless?

I sure am…
I checked out the people who got accepted/denied into Harvard on this website; it showed that people with 4.0 GPA and 2400 SAT still got rejected (not just one though, many).
I do not have a 4.0 GPA, and I do not have a 2400 SAT (but I never took it… just modesty).
How am I going to fulfill my dreams of becoming a surgeon with such hopeless attributes?
Should I change my goals or something?

Well, 2400’s with 4.0 probably have a 50-50 chance of getting in.

Is Harvard the best Medical school in the country?

You can go to any reputable university and become a doctor. And from any medical school you can become a surgeon.

You really need to do your research.

garfieldliker, that is certainly not the case… I wouldn’t be surprised that if most of these perfect 4.0 2400 kids get rejected if that’s all they do. It is by no means a guarantee of admissions and i HIGHLY doubt that it gives you a 50-50 chance into Harvard.

Umm… you could go to a different school that’s still good and still have a good life? (just like the other 99+% of people who don’t go to Ivy Leagues.) You’re acting like it’s Harvard or bust… and it’s not.

For Harvard:
2400 SAT + 4.0 UW GPA + 4.9 W GPA + No ECs = Almost guarenteed rejection

A better question to ask is… is Harvard the only school in the country that trains surgeons? NOOO!!! You have to do your undergraduate studies anyways. You can always apply H later.

NSpired, I think the admissions rate for 2400’s is 50% because most of them also have lots of ECs

I got the same feeling when Silverturtle got deferred from Yale. I don’t think I even wanna apply now.

BUT you want to be a surgeon?! That’s your goal? You can go to any school and become a surgeon!

What does it mean to be deferred?

Deferred means that you applied early action/early decision and your application will be re-looked at during the regular decision round for college admission.

@Well that’s true generally but your conjecture was that just simply having 4.0 and 2400 = 50 percent admissions which is not true. These 50 percent that do get accepted are also probably brilliant enough that they won Intels or something…

I think about 130 2400’s got accepted. They all probably have many ECs, but I doubt all of them won national awards.

again, i was giving you an example… fact is 4.0 + 2400+ nothing = REJECT
