I have just realized that I referred to the McCormick School of Engineering as the “McCormack” School of Engineering in my essay. Should I email the admissions office and let them know I am not mentally defunct, or would that exacerbate the problem?

During my UPenn information session, the speaker told us how one person wrote his essay about how he wanted to attend Wharton School of “Bunnies” and got in. I think you’re fine.

Ooooh, that sucks! I don’t think it’ll be a deciding factor in whether or not you’re admitted, but I do know many colleges are careful about applicants’ level of interests. Yours isn’t as extreme, but Michigan’s AdComs apparently get offended if applicants end their essays, i.e., "This is why I would like to go to [insert college name that is not ‘University of Michigan’ here]. But I wouldn’t sweat it. Good luck!
