fees on bill

Apparently the student health services fee is one which is mandatory for full-time students. Needless to say I’m not too thrilled having to pay $85 per term for a service my child will never use. We live in the Pittsburgh area and if my child were in need of medical attention, it would be from the doctors in our health plan.

That being said, since I am compelled to pay the fee, I’d like my child to get the most out of what they offer. What can students receive from the Student Health Service that will not cost the students any money?

Also, as an FYI, new students do not purchase an ethernet cable before you arrive at Pitt. You can purchase an ethernet cable from Pitt for $8 - Room 204 Bellefield Hall.

Or you can purchase an ethernet cable from walmart for $5 in any length you’d like :)

^^ Even better! Thanks matok.

I looked at that link earlier, and it appears as though there is a charge for just about ever service. It doesn’t indicate what is covered with no additional fee.

I guess a better question is this - is there a fee for students for a doctor’s visit? I would presume for any tests - like a blood test - there would be a charge. So is a student better off going to his/her own physcian when you know your health insurance covers that?

What’s the experience of other local students with student health services?
