I really prefer a backpack purse over any other type of purse for my daily use. Not too big, not too small. Prefer one that is convertible crossbody/backpack - meaning you CAN wear it as a crossbody but the primary use is backpack.
I love having my hands/arms free. I’m often carrying other things into work (lunch bag, work tote, extra pair of shoes) so I like hauling my purse on my back.
Looking for a new one. Would like to spend < $100. Prefer leather or “leather” since this is my main purse. No print.
I haven’t measured the one I currently have…I don’t need to fit a laptop in it but I don’t want it child sized! Just looking for input from those who might already have one they like.
I don’t switch out purses except for maybe twice a year. I have one I love and use it day in and day out.
It drives me nuts whenever I need a new one that there are so few options for woman who want this but don’t want to look like a bike courier. I am currently very happy with my Liebeskind Berlin backpack purse. Can’t find my specific one on amazon, but they do ship to the US. Maybe worth a google.
Edited to add they appear to be more like in the 150 - 200 price range. I seem to remember mine was less but may have been on sale.
@deb922 that one looks nice and soft and supple. I think the drawstring top gives me pause because I’m always swinging the pack around to get it on my back.
The current one I have (inexpensive on Amazon but it worked for nearly a year!) has made me secure because the main opening actually faces your back not the outside when you wear it - so no chance of anyone doing any funny business messing with the purse in crowded situations!
This is the one I have been using - it’s slightly bigger than I need/want on rebuying and I would prefer the main opening be on the top of the back - this side opening is sometimes awkward - though secure!
I have a Kate Spade backpack bag and I love it. But, it was on sale and I bought it in Toronto, so was even less expensive because of good exchange rate. About $150ish USD.
I have a friend who watches Kate Spade bags and gets alerts when prices drop. Don’t know how it works but obviously there is an easy way. I’m sure more savvy internet shoppers than I am know how to do that.

Following along with interest. I’ve been looking since last year for a backpack purse for travel that can double as my regular purse occasionally. Without much success, I must say. Came close a couple of times - but though the choices were cute and practical, I wasn’t feeling it.
@abasket your post spurred me to continue the search. I found one that seems like a good choice and just within your budget.
I like a backpack bag for shopping and trips to museums/travel, but one that is smaller than my travel backpack. I used to have one with the zipper in the back to deter pickpockets and have had trouble finding ones that don’t open on the top in the stores. There are a couple of anti-theft bags on the amazon link that might do the trick (I am not a amazon shopper but will go to the product sites themselves).
These are all helpful. Wanted a backpack that can look like a purse, for travel. Many museums will allow entry with a purse, but not a backpack. Many of these would probably pass. Thanks all.
