Fellow KSU students!!!! -->>> Question about glbt, straights, and on-campus housing??

<p>I will be attending Kent State this fall ('06) and am looking for lez friendlyness… </p>

<p>I was going to apply to Prentice (which is an all female dorm) but not for checking-out-girl reasons…I just don’t want to be around a bunch of loud-mouthed screaming Neanderthols (I know I’m not spelling this right) who smash beer cans into their heads and party because it’s Tuesday or something…So thats why I applied to Prentice…but some people I’ve talked to said that the straight girls in Prentice aren’t very nice to the glbt girls because they are afraid they’ll be looking at them in that way or something. Because yes, I’m a lesbian and I just cannot control these urges because I am just a sex-obsessed pervert…But anyways…</p>

<p>I know that not everyone’s okay with glbt people but I just don’t want some religious right extremist who wants to purify my soul by killing me or something (I realize this situation is a bit extreme in itself, but I’m just trying to get my point across, trying to get my fear across, which is very real)…</p>

<p>Should i just to try to room alone and then not have to worry…
Or should I stay away from certain residence halls??
How is the straight-gay vibe at Kent?</p>

<p>Gays are very accepted at KSU, some would say almost too accepted. I saw numerous times on campus, men kissing men, same sex hand holding, etc. You will have absolutely no problem at all fitting in on campus, as the LGBT scene is pretty active and vibrant. If you are concerned with staying away from the party dorms, avoid tri-towers and small group like the plauge, those dorms can get pretty rowdy. Dunbar is also pretty notorious as a party dorm. You are in a pretty good spot for what you are looking for, and prentice is close to everything on campus, so you won’t have to walk far at all. When you get upper division and live off campus, don’t go to townhomes, that is the exact opposite of what you want.</p>
