Female shoes for interviewing- new grad

D20 is a senior and is starting to go to career fairs and (hopefully) interviewing. She has no idea what type of shoes to buy. I work in a totally casual office in the suburbs so I have no idea what’s “in” right now for twenty somethings. She’s a communications major with a writing minor looking into PR, advertising, crisis management, etc. She has a really bad ankle from an old injury so no stillettos for her. Will probably pair with a dress and cardigan or blazer.

Black loafers are fine. Suede booties are fine. Anything that isn’t flip-flops or looks like “clubbing” shoes (like prom shoes but more sparkly). Ballet flats in a neutral color are fine.

My daughter wears ballet flats or short boots with a low heel/wedge.

My D wears ankle boots or closed-toe wedges (1.5-2 inch heel). Black or nude, depending on her outfit.

My kid has a pair of very comfortable black vionic shoes. A sort of wedge heel. But nothing high.

Regardless of what she wears make sure they are clean and polished and not beat up. That goes for her clothes also. Nothing wrinkled. What she wears should be comfortable and give her confidence.

These are the vionic shoes my kid has. She says…very comfortable and looked good with pants, a dress, skirt, really anything.

Adding a picture.

My D wore ankle boots similar to these to a bunch of interviews. They looked good with skirts or pants and were also good in cooler and wet weather, when she did a number of interviews.

She has worn them so much that they are now worn out.
