<p>marie, Michael Brown was not a “criminal.” He was accused of an act that Darren Wilson knew NOTHING about when he stopped him. Moreover, the full video of the convenience store incident paints a much more murky picture about what happened. </p>
<p>If the truth is that he reached into the car and grabbed for the gun, and then ran aggressively at the police officer, yes, there would be fear, as yes, cops are human. People seem to think police officers are like robots, with no emotion. They are trained to shoot first, if they think they are in danger. I think they should shoot first with tasers, personally, but it’s not my call. That’s why we have taught our kids to always be compliant and non threatening when dealing with an officer.</p>
<p>i didn’t hear most of McCullough’s press conference. Did he say how far away from the car Brown was when he was hit by the various gunshots? I have the same reaction Sally does: once the kid is running away and/or far from the car, it’s really hard to justify shooting. </p>

<p>I realize that, but since they were not sequestered, they were well aware of what was going on. They must have known there would be rioting, violence, and hell to pay if he was not indicted. That is why I believe they must have felt strongly about not indicting him. It would be hard for most people not to give into what they must have felt as pressure to indict. If you watch the news, you definitely get the message of, “They better indict him, or else!”</p>
<p>No, Sally, that’s not correct. The radio call about the stolen cigars preceded the attack. The officer called for back-up when he realized he had encountered the suspect. who coincidentally was holding the stolen cigars at the time. But, he wasn’t shot for robbing a Quick Mart. According the prosecutor, witnesses saw him attack the officer and grab his gun and a shot was fired then. There was conflicting testimony about shots being fired as he ran away. And, then they key part seems to be when he ran back at the officer. How far away I don’t know but they said he was charging him. Cop cars are burning.</p>
<p>No, when I watch the news I get the message of–let’s play up stories that get page views. How come the white kids in New Hampshire rioting after some kind of game didn’t get top billing? Why is it only stories that focus on racial tension? </p>
<p>I understand Wilson not getting indicted for murder, but manslaughter? Seriously? Remember, a grand jury indictment only means the person is held over for trial, not that he’ll be convicted. This is the part I don’t understand, and the part that seems fishy to me.</p>
<p>All the evidence considered is being released, testimony, autopsy, ballistics, everything. They must feel very confident there was no probable cause to press charges.</p>
<p>I don’t even know what to say. Justice seems very hard to come by these days by certain segments of society.</p>

<p>We don’t know have a clue what pressures the jurors were under. They could have been husbands and wives of police officers from all we know, and the pressure could have been " oh he’s a thug, he’s a criminal". </p>
<p>And keep in mind that ( at least in the grand jury I served on) that grand juries operate on majority vote, and doesn’t have to have a unanimous decision. It could have been 5 to 4 for all we know, with 4 voting for a trial. </p>

<p>The life of black boys should and does matter until boys of all races turn into lawless thugs. The death was entirely preventable. All it took was a better behavior and a iota of law abiding. The starting incident was not a mere jaywalking. </p>
<p>And how about some prayers and thoughts for the people of Ferguson. They have been suffering through this for a long time. A community that used to get along pretty well, black and white, now they are all fearful. My sister is going there for Thanksgiving to visit her in laws. Everyone is afraid, and it just crap that vandals and criminals are threatening these elderly folks.</p>
