Ferguson Part Deux - No charges to be filed!

"I read her comment as meaning emilybee is the one who is psychic if she can state with certainty what someone else was thinking. As in this statement:

“The DA didn’t want an indictment, period. And not because he concluded the officer was innocent.”

Maybe I misinterpreted."

Nope, nrdsb4, you are absolutely correct. I thought my “snarkiness” was obvious, as to what statement it was referring to.

Yes, I can read minds.

But seriously, it’s pretty clear that most every DA does not want an indictment in police cases. It doesn’t take a genius to figure that out, and the stats back that up.

DA’s need the police to get convictions in their other cases. It is extremely rare for cases, other than those involving police, to end in a no bill. It takes very little “evidence” to find probable case - which is why it is said, “a DA can get a Grand Jury to indict a ham sandwich.”

Whether the DA believes the police or anyone else are not guilty or guilty does not matter at all. If a DA wants an indictment they get an indictment. If they don’t they won’t.

If you can read minds, tell me what my older son wants for Christmas. He won’t give me any guidance, doesn’t care about money, and I am completely at a loss.

Easy! This is what he wants . . .

<a href=“Access Denied”>Access Denied;

“tell me what my older son wants for Christmas.”

Is that the one who follows Bitcoin?

Now those are truly ugly sweaters! Might teach him a lesson about Christmas lists if I got him one, though. To add on to that, he doesn’t wear sweaters and (gasp) doesn’t care about the Seahawks.

Now maybe you are a mind reader, Emily. A bitcoin would be interesting to him. He is very conservative with his money and would never get one for himself. It would be quite a novelty fo have one. I can see him being highly entertained.

^

BD, glad to help.

Well . . . you could get yourself one of the sweaters, then!

I don’t know if I need any more ugly clothes, saintfan. I have that category covered, just ask my husband
However, they have some really nice Seahawks jackets on that site that I could order for my husband. He is a huge fan, and needs something to replace that dang Alabama sweatshirt. Turns out buying bitcoins is a little complicated, but I’m checking into if they have a bitcoin ETF yet. I was thinking they were going to open one. I can just see my son’s reaction. “Ridiculous, just ridiculous! You know this isn’t going to be worth anything, look at Mt Gox!” But he’d be smiling all day.

See, I could have started or joined a thread about Christmas presents, and look here, I have my son and husband fixed up, just like that.

I never could get my mind around the whole Mt. Gox concept. I hate to think that my mind is that calcified but there it is.

running to get some cash out of the guest room mattress to do Christmas shopping

Bitcoin is one of those things that sounds really cool to certain people but has a ton of problems that have not yet been addressed, and may not be addressable! I would consider any money spent on/in Bitcoin and similar currencies to be an extremely chancy investment.

I think a better investment than bitcoin would be Saintfan’s mattress. Not the money inside it, but the actual mattress.

I don’t consider bitcoin an investment any more than gambling on slot machines. For now, they are purely a novelty item.

Hahahahahah!!! I actually don’t have a guest room and the kid sleeps on a futon so the mattress is also a figment of someone’s imagination. So there you have it . . . bitcoin and my guest room mattress have equal real world value ;)

Hilarious!! But at least the thought of a nice, comfortable mattress can be a pleasant one, so maybe your fictitious guest room mattress is a better value

OK then, my virtual mattress is soooo comfy because there is just so dang much cash stuffed in there . . . all $100s . . . it is just really padded and supportive, yet soft.

Love it. Wrap a Seahawks comforter around it, envision me ten pounds less sleeping on it, and that’s a perfect Christmas present!

And there you have it . . . common ground at last

I knew we could get there. Add a little wine, and everyone is happy.

Except I have a dog lounging on my back, so I can’t get up. No wine for me.
Isn’t talking about nothing more pleasant than fighting? This is what we used to do in the E&P forum. When things started to get too nasty, someone would start talking about inane subjects like preferring coffee cake over crumb cake. And then the fight seemed to go out of everyone (or we bored them off the thread), and it was amazing how people would settle down and actually find points of agreement.

The New York State Attorney General has just announced his proposition that in the future the Governor issue an executive order for a Special Prosecutor in all cases of controversial police shootings. The AG said that it’s too much of a ethical burden for regular County/District Attorneys to investigate the Police Departments that they usually work hand in hand with.

I saw that, LW. Maybe other states or jurisdictions will follow suit.
