<p>I’ll have just a few hours to explore downtown Nashville, is there anything I should check out? Staying near the AT&T building downtown and no car. I’m not looking to do anything time consuming, but in any city I’m in, I like to walk around a bit and get a lay of the land instead of just sitting in the hotel. If there’s any buildings/sites you can recommend that are right there or any shops/restaurants, that would be great. Also, how safe is downtown at night (not late night - but 7-8 pm). I’m used to the big east coast cities, where there are a lot of people around so you feel ok walking around, but I know that’s not always the case everywhere esp. in cities where people drive to work and then leave the city to return to the suburbs around 5-6 pm.</p>
<p>I love the Country Music Hall of Fame and particularly enjoyed the Studio B Tour (they provide the bus to/from this historic studio). If you are just wandering on Broadway, be sure to spend a few minutes in Hatch Show Print in the 300 block. They have a fascinating history of providing letter press posters for musicians, politicians, etc. D’s favorite downtown haunt (also on Broadway) is The Stage, which was featured in last week’s episode of Nashville. Just walking on Broadway in that area is fun because of the variety of music coming out of so many of the doors to bars.</p>
<p>It’s less than a mile from the Batman Building to Bicentennial State Park, one of my very favorite Nashville destinations. Beautifully done outdoor exhibit on the history of the state. So this is good if the weather’s conducive and you’re a walker - there’s a good deal of walking at the park itself. That’s what I’d do.</p>
<p>You’re also considerably closer to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Walk of Fame - a true Nashville destination. You’re also closer to the Frist Center - depending on what exhibits are going and which hours you’re available, you may want to walk over there (a bit more than half a mile, per google).</p>
<p>I would definitely take a look inside the Batman Building itself for the atrium. I’d feel comfortable in the area in the early evening, but maybe folks with more expertise can weigh in on this.</p>
<p>Country Music Hall of Fame was fun. And walking downtown in the evening was fun too with all the music in different places (felt safe to me).</p>
