Few questions about UCs!

Hi, I will be applying for UC's the coming fall term for 2012. I just have a few questions:

I want to take the ACT on December 10, 2011, but the UC website said all ACT/SATs must be done BY December. Can I still send in the December 10th scores?

Do you think ECs can outweigh GPA and or SAT at UC D, UC I, or UC B?

What are the chances of acceptance to the above colleges if you have very strong ECs and personal statements, but moderate to lowish SAT/GPA?

2. Do you think ECs can outweigh GPA and or SAT at UC D, UC I, or UC B?

At Berkeley, no, unless you're a recruited athlete.

Ec's can outweigh grades but only to a certain extent

I'd say depends on the GPA, and to a certain extent, the ec. For example maybe an Olympic fencer can get away with a 3.8 at Irvine. This is not meant literally.

have you tried stat finder?

"The UC application closes on November 30 so sending scores on December won’t be useful."
^ I don't think that is true. From the website;

1) Yes
2) Only if you are a recruited athlete, a published author (in a nationally-recognized journal), hooked candidate, or have cured cancer
3) If not hooked (low income, overcame diversity, first gen to college, attend inner-city HS) and not recruited: extremely low

The UCs accept through the December tests. The application deadline of Nov 30 is not its test date deadline. It does say, however, that for the December ACT, you should designate, in your application for the test, one of the UCs to which you are applying as a college to automatically receive scores once they are released. In other words, you must designate a UC as one of your free sends (which is the fastest way of delivery) and you must not instead wait until the score comes out before deciding to order it sent. You only need to designate one of the UCs as a free send and all others to which you apply get the score from that UC.

Bluebayou is right- if you are not #3, you need to apply to the Cal States as backup & try to transfer to a UC as a junior. If you are #3 be sure to consider some CA lib arts schools like Occidental, University of Redlands, Loyola- even USC if you have a compelling narrative. These schools are known to give good financial aid to those who are #3

But we don't even know this students stats....or did I miss something.?...
