I have a few questions, please answer them to your best ability.

I am a transfer student and I’ve been accepted by UCSD. At the time of my acceptance my GPA was a 3.7. During the spring semester however, I took a huge overload; 21 units. I got the following grades;

Calc - B
Botany - A
Chemistry- C
Eng - B
Statistics - B

Which equates to a 3.0ish GPA. =/

I took 2 classes over the summer, Calc and Sociology. I got another B in freaking Calc and A in Socio.

NOW MY GPA IS A 3.45ish. WHICH IS VERY BAD COMPARED TO WHAT I STARTED OFF WITH.

Also, I applied as a Environmental Science major and I am trying to transfer into Human Biology. MY QUESTION IS: Will I be able to transfer into such a prestigious major with the DRASTIC GPA I have now??? Will this also impact my future career? I am trying to get into Med. School. I OBVIOUSLY NEED TO STEP UP MY GAME NOW. =/

Yeah, you do. Did you work while taking all those units? If medical school is your goal, you may want to reassess your undergraduate major (something safer as a fallback), unless you plan on getting nothing but As from here on out. The C in Chem is a cause for concern… and the Bs in English and Stats really should’ve been As, but Bs are still good (maybe not good enough for med school)…

Did you do TAG during September 2011 for Fall 2012? I don’t know what the requirements were back then, but in order to do TAG this September for Fall 2013, you must have a GPA above 3.5. I would definitely check what the requirements were.

@art2CS - Yea, I will OBVIOUSLY need to re-take chemistry. I honestly had a VERY bad chemistry experience at a community college. My teacher was so dreadfully hard that all my time went into chemistry. His tests were 12 pages long front and back and the final was 45 pages long. It got to the point where it was a race of passing his class instead of learning the actual material…only 3 people passed his class sadly.

But will it make a difference if I retake GENERAL CHEMISTRY at UCSD to gain better knowledge in chemistry? I feel like I didn’t learn the concepts of chemistry to the extent I should of, to pass the MCAT. Is it possible for me to retake Gen. Chem? And what is I get As both semesters now?

@mermaker - No I didn’t do any TAG or anything, I was admitted without a TAG.
