<p>How bad is the fianancial aid situation at CMU? I am planning on applying ED to SCS but I don’t want to back out of the binding contract with the excuse “Oh sorry I cannot attend CMU because I cannot afford it.” </p>
<p>How much aid can I expect my parents make $60,000 a year, I am a URM, and First Generation college student?</p>
<p>The only reason i came to CMU is b/c it ended up being my cheapest school. I was in a pretty similar situation to you. I’m a first gen whose family makes between 50-60k a year and i got a nearly 40k grant. And I’m not a URM. You should be good, especially as an ED.</p>
<p>Thanks honorstudent your response helps alot. Many people have told me Carnegie is very stingy with handing out fianancial aid becuase their endowment is so low.</p>

<p>It all depends on how much they want you.</p>
<p>I was offered a mediocre package from CMU initially, but when I told them a peer school had offered me considerably more they matched the offer.</p>
