File Conversion/Encoding - help!

I’ve had this computer message before, but I really need to solve it this time!

I made a logo at home on Microsoft Pub 2003 but now need to open it at work on 2007 - I am getting the message to “select the encoding that makes your document readable”. Choices are Windows (default), MS-DOS, or Other Encoding then there is a whole list of foreign language choices.

Any guidance how to get this document to open correctly!!!

What happens if you open Microsoft Pub 2007 first and then try to go to the file?

I don’t actually have Publishing 2007 on my work computer…we just recently had our computers here upgraded to MS 2007, but apparently no Publishing. :(

I didn’t realize that.

Shoot. I’ll check my laptop…

Sent the file to a co-worker who has MS Pub on her computer. She opened it with no problem. Just submitted an IT request to get MS Pub on mine…hopefully that takes care of the problem…

Do know that I’ve had this problem before with other files…is it because I don’t have the program that the file was originally created on???

abasket, you are at work and you are asking for tech help on CC? LOL

Ha ha - CC can be FASTER than the response I get here!!!

I had the same problem with PowerPoint files because I didn’t have MS PowerPoint on my home computer. I found out that MS had a PowerPoint viewer that I could download and install that would allow me to view .pps and .ppt files.

With this in mind, I searched for a MS Publisher viewer and found this page:
<a href=“Microsoft Support”>http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/publisher/HA102339061033.aspx</a>
Apparently they don’t make one but there are a couple of suggestions there, including downloading a trial version.

“Yahoo answers” works well for questions like this, too.

This is a friendly crowd though - folks here can answer just about anything - the collective wisdom is awesome.
