For a friend:

He is 17 y/o, still in high school. Is getting his AA this Spring with still one year of high school left (HS grad in 2014). He filled out the transfer application in October because he thought that was the right one since he will have his AA. Turns out it was the wrong one and he should have filled out the Freshman app. He is being told that he will have to fill out the now late Freshman app and be in the 2nd pool of applicants. Is there any way around this? He has worked so hard and is in such a unique situation since he is getting his AA a year before his HS.

I hate how a simply mistake can do so much damage, but unfortunately that is really bad. The 2nd pool of applicants have a really scarce chance (it appears more random). There are approximately 7500 late applicants yearly, and only ~70 got accepted in 2010s book. On a personal note, I applied to Georgia Tech but was denied by the exact same case of filling out the transfers application by mistake. Despite how I dual enrolled in BCC and got my AA. As one who experience the same situation 3 years ago, I am gravely sympathetic that this small mistake happens to another person. Hope the best out of luck.
