Does anyone know if you have to complete Film 304 and Film 310 before taking any other film classes, or if you just need to take them to be “admitted to the major”? Also, does the film department normally not accept transfer credit from other schools, say the University of Michigan?

Everything at Wesleyan is fairly flexible. I don’t know that much about the film department, but I know a friend took an advanced film class his first semester here, and he was the only freshman in the class. Take a look at wesmaps (the course catalogue - <a href=“WesMaps - Wesleyan University”>WesMaps - Wesleyan University; ) and click on the courses that look interesting to you. This will tell you lots of information about each class - including whether they have any prerequisites. Taking a quick look, it seems that many of them don’t have prerequisites, so you’re good to go! And even if they do, if you think you’re qualified to take the class anyway for whatever reason (including previous film experience at UMich), talking to the professor can never hurt, because getting into classes really is very flexible. Feel free to shoot the professor an e-mail if you have any questions - some will respond over the summer, some won’t.

Did you get in as a transfer, gusgooz? If so, congrats!! You deserved it :)
