Film School Transfer

Hi, I am an incoming freshman at Ithaca College, and I was wondering how difficult it would be to TRANSFER into these film/tv programs/ what gpa I would need to have a shot. My dream job is to be a TV screenwriter and I am shooting for a BFA degree, my high school scores are mediocre (3.3 and 27 ACT). Here are the programs:

-NYU Tisch (my dream school)
-CalArts Film/VIdeo- is this a good program?
-UCLA
-Chapman U
-is it possible to transfer into LMU?

Thanks!

It also depends on your college GPA, recs, and ec’s, but your high school GPA and ACT will have a lot weight as well. Can you retake the ACT and increase it to at least a 30? Tisch and UCLA are high reaches with your current stats. Also, if you want to be a screenwriter, you don’t have to go to film school.

I can’t opine on your question, but here is some unsolicited advice. In general I think it is a terrible idea to start one college with the intent of transferring out. This will stand in the way of your making meaningful friendships, developing relationships with professors, and getting involved on campus. Then if your transfer doesn’t work out as planned you will be really stuck. I’d go to the college you enrolled in with the intent of staying all four years. It is fine to throw in a couple of transfer applications but don’t count on it working out.
