fin. aid appeal

Guys…I was wondering if any of u could tell me…My efc is working out to be approximately 32k a year, but my family really can’t afford more than 25k.

How effective will a personal appeal be? Are they considerate to appeals at al? I don’t see why they should be if they weren’t in the first place, but i wanted other opinions.

Have your parents write them a letter. Explain your circumstances. The goal is to convince them why you can’t afford what you say they you can pay. They are considerate of appeals–they certainly want you to come to Columbia.

thanks columbia2002…anyone else, please?

i thought i should add that i applied ed, and so i don’t have a chance to compare and show them aid offers from other schools…does that really screw me over?

Just send in an appeal, rather than complaining about it here. Give it your best shot and hope. There’s nothing anyone can say that will make a difference.
