Finacial Aid

I am going to either be a history or anthropology major, maybe both, i came to realize a lot of the good colleges for my major are either Ivy league or more expensive schools. Now my question is, if my mom makes less than 50,000 a year, and my dad died when I was eight, would i get good finacial aid with an Ivy League college, and by good financial aid i mean, reduce the cost from 50,000 to about 35,000 and I can try and get scholarships to get it down to 30,000. I want to attend the best school for my major and to do so I imagine the more expensive schools would be the best way to go. The only less expensive school that i know of as being “great” is William and Mary. Any help would be appreciated…
Also I would like to focus on feudal England to colonization, or America’s Revolutionary War, and the Civil War. In Anthropology, I would focus on Archaeology, primarily in Greece, Italy, and Native American.

It depends entirely on your family’s financial situation. Many schools at that level commit to meeting 100% of demonstrated need per federal methodology. My suggestion is apply for admission, apply for aid, and see what happens. The scenario you lay out certainly sounds plausible.

And if it doesn’t work out, come down a notch to the tier of colleges like Rhodes, where I am very confident you can find something you can afford.
