I wouldn’t be as pessimistic as you are. But do update your thread once you know. We’ll figure out what we can suggest if there’s a need for suggestions, and we’re always here for congratulations!
Which community college are you attending? If you’re at Bellevue, there’s a BS Computer Science degree as well. The job/internship connections aren’t as deep as at UWS, but students do get hired. I wouldn’t recommend it if you have your heart set on grad school, but it’s another option for a workforce degree.
@MYOS1634 thank you & i was really optimistic about UWS’s CSE program when i first started at my cc, but advisers at my college told me that they haven’t seen someone get accepted to the CSE program at UWS as a transfer from my college… even perfect students. i’m just going to relax though and finish up my last two quarters strong because i already did everything i could haha. & i will update as soon as i start hearing back from schools.
@aroundhere i go to tacoma community college. & my heart is pretty set on getting my phd. or at least my masters. i saw that program at bellevue college but if it came down to instate programs, i’d go to UWT because than i could still go to grad school after the fact (ABET accredited & still uw affiliated)
@cercit20 I’m sure that UWS takes at least some transfers from Tacoma because they value representing all parts of the state, but yes it is tough! If you want to get into a PhD program, make sure you find a professor to let you work in their research group as soon as you transfer. Research experience is super important for grad school admissions.
When choosing where to go, I would count faculty members in your area of interest – there may be more research opportunities at WSU than at UWT.
Good luck to you!
@aroundhere thank you! & i hope so. it is just a waiting game now. i’ll keep that in mind for when i transfer
@MYOS1634 old thread… BUT I was accepted to UWS for CS :)) yay lol. staying in state at a 2nd tier CS school
Uws!!! Wow!!! Congratulations!
Congratulations! So happy for you! Thanks for coming back to let us know the good news
@momcinco @thumper1 @myos1634 thank you guys!! I’m so stoked about going to a top ten cs program… !! It feels good because I was rejected from a lot of schools (some ranked lower in CS than us) so it was a surprise:)) financial aid isnt too bad. I’m reappealling my award because I missed to priority deadline… But even if my appeal is rejected it just means ill have to take out more loans than usual my first year. NBD
