Final check: are these UC's good for me to apply to amd what are my chances?

I am applying to UCSB, UCI, UCD, and UCR.

-SAT: 1220 (620 Reading, 600 Math, 16 Essay)
-UC GPA: 4.07
-Decent EC’s
-Lots of Honors classes but only 3 IB’s and 2 AP’s
-Intended majors for all schools: Biochemistry (First) & Cell/Developmental Biology (alternate)

I know UCSB and UCI are reaches but will it still be worth it to try considering my stats are in the range but closer to the 25th percentiles according to their admitted freshman profile?

Freshman admit rates (2016) for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19:

UCB: 14%
UCLA: 14%
UCSD: 44%
UCSB: 54%
UCD: 58%
UCI: 65%
UCSC: 85%
UCR: 94%
UCM: 96%

UCR looks like a Match. The rest could go either way since your SAT is below the averages. I would add UCSC and some of the Cal states if interested. This would give you more choices come Spring since you have no true safety on the list.

UCSC, UCR and UCM are the best UC matches for you. The others could go either way.

I"d add them to your list. SDSU, CPP and CSULB are also good targets.

Just wanted to say people on this site are not credible. I got accepted to both UCSB and UCI. Don’t let these people bring you down. Anything is possible.

I don’t see anything suggested that was not credible. The posters said that your acceptance to the mid tier schools could go either way.

People on this site are not admissions’ directors. Saying they are not credible doesn’t make sense because they cant give you precise admissions decisions. That’s completely on the schools. Asking for chances isn’t supposed to be spot on, but people can try to guess.

Very precise commentary on how this website is not accurate. Well done. Congrats on your admission.

@christinak1922: Again, there is nothing on this website stating college chancing is accurate. Any person asking to be chanced should know this and take any comments with a grain of salt. I am not an admissions officer with your application in hand. At best it is an educated guess based on statistics since no poster is privy to the complete application. UC’s can be unpredictable and there is always more to everyone’s story.

Also, better to be a little pessimistic now when there’s still time to apply to another safety school if need be, rather than to be overly optimistic now and regret it later. You don’t do anyone any favors by telling them they have great odds for a reach school at this point in the game.
