Final NAPS Stats Class 0f 2007

Just found this elsewhere on the web.

Starting # = 278
USNA-256
USCGA-22

Ending # = 237
USNA-217
USCGA-20

Appointments = 225
USNA-207
USCGA-18

Any data on what the 12 non-appointments did?

No but just as an aside, a couple weeks ago I was up in Boston and ran into a kid who had just graduated from NAPS a couple days before. He was in town for a couple days. He was a prior service Marine who was ordered to go to West Germany for the month before he was due to report to Annapolis. He and another kid were going to fly out of Andrews on a military flight. He has already served a tour in Iraq and is hoping to branch Marines when he graduates in 2011. A very fine young man and representative of the kids produced by the NAPS program.

…Failed out?

That Marine might be from North Texas. The parents club announced at the picnic that one Marine Napster couldn’t attend because he was training in Europe. Sounds like quite a young man.

I wonder what training they’d be sending him to? With him slated to go to USNA, it makes no sense.

Yes he was from Texas. Zap it wasn’t really training in WG just a temporary assignment. He apparently didn’t have any leave time to spend visiting family etc. (Ps I could be wrong but I believe his name was John Vick)…help me out Spidermom

Yup. That sounds familiar.

Of the twelve, some denied their appointment, some were medically disqualified

Denied an appointment, even though they graduated?

Any ideas why?

The same thing happened at USMAPS when our son graduated years ago. Several of the CC’s decided to leave the military using USMAPS as their last bit of time in the Army. Didn’t make any sense to me at the time, but from what I was told, it happens almost yearly that some guys are short timing it and ride out their final year at a Prep School. Strange, isn’t it?

My son the NAPSter said at least one of the twelve was a prior who is heading back to the fleet. Don’t imagine he’ll get a very warm welcome from his command.

More like outrageous. They gobbled up a billet that some other kid would have killed for.

Oh, well. Takes all kinds, I suppose…
