Final School Reports (for end of the year)

Does anyone know how much weight these final school reports hold? Meaning… their purpose is to make sure that we have “maintained academic performace” for the rest of our senior years (which, for all of us, consists of all A’s I’m sure). And around this time, laziness has really begun to take over…

So how low do you have to sink for them to literally “revoke” your acceptance? They won’t be as cruel as to frown upon B’s would they?
I’m slacking… and I’m down to the borderline B level, and I’m getting a little worried.

So what do you think?
Thanks!

My stress is maintaing my 4.0 and thus Valedictoral status while knowing I have college wrapped up. Of course, being paranoid about being rejected now, being a perferctionist, and perhaps a little bit of insanity (IB tests!!!), I have a more rigorous schedule than a lot of the valedictorians (we have a lot) who also want to preserve their 4.0.

ahh… if having a 4.0 UW made you valedictorian at my school… me and one other girl have 4.0 UW GPAs, but since I take band every semester in addition to AP classes and she quit band, her weighted GPA is slightly higher… so i’m just worried about maintaining my salutatorian status i guess…

if UW was my schools stuff for rank the rank woudl go like:

1, 25, 26, 27

GoldDuck and I go to the same school. We have like 20 valedictorians. It’s pretty ridiculous.

Thank goodness my school doesn’t rank! It’s competitive the way it is already…and with ranking…oh my goodness…dont even want to wonder!

heh, my school freezes the ranks mid senior year… so everyone can slack off now…

unfortunately, the final school report is still maintained, even though ranking is not affected anymore :frowning:
i’m guessing we’re safe as long as we dont fail classes… ? lol

yeah andy2009, I was assuming the same… I think in a previous post they said that the University looks for grades like D’s and such (and lower).

Ultimately I think we are O.K… but i’m still paranoid like you, Harpingchic lol… I want to maintain Valedictorian status, and I think I will, but it’s soooooo very tempting to just not care anymore.

I don’t think they’d revoke anyone’s admissions over a few B’s and maybe a C… or atleast I hope not.

correction: I confused Harpingchic with GoldDuck… my mistake!

Will they care if you get all 1’s or something on ur AP tests? I’m pretty sure they won’t but I’m paranoid. I’m not studying for 3 of my 4 tests cause I’m just going to retake the classes next yaer.

haha same here, im only concentrating on two, and the others i most likely have to retake. also, i wont even try on the government AP b/c upenn doesnt even give credit for it… agh, what a waste of money (my PUBLIC school doesnt pay for our APs :frowning: )

silmon, I think even without studying, if you at least try during the 3 hrs, you will walk away with a 3. The AP test curves are very gracious, and since you were smart enough to get into Penn, I assume you’re smart enough to get 30% of the tests correct.

APs shouldn’t affect “rescinding” decisions. Its mainly for credit, scholarship usage (if applicable)…or self esteeem.

A girl I know going to UPenn next year got a D in a college class and told me that when she talked to an admissions officer he said he would rescind the application of anyone that got a grade like that in a class. However, he also said that they only base it on your cumulative average. Therefore, if you get one D and A’s in the rest of your nine classes, your cum. won’t drop that much and they won’t rescind your acceptance.

Not that anyone should take my word for it and start slacking off completely…

Thats slightly comforting. I highly doubt that anyone will start slacking off to the point of B’s, however.

We are all A students, I’m sure. So I think most of us (or at least I think) are concerned about B’s and perhaps a C. As aforementioned in this thread, if you’re smart enough to get into Penn, you’d basically have to TRY to get a D, regardless of how much you slack off.

If they look at cum. GPA, then that should be good for all of us.

(haha actually… i started this post because I really DONT want to read Dickens for my AP English course, and I am currently using cliffnotes in lieu of reading the book. I’ll be damned if i read that book! I’d much rather get the B and relax a bit!)

You’re not supposed to get a D or F in any quarter. If it’s one, you’ll get like a warning letter and they’re going to watch you next year. If you get many, you better have a damn good reason. This mostly applies to Ds. If you have one F… not good news. Not that this applies to anyone, just a warning.

Cs, they don’t really care about. One C will probably not bring down your final grade in the class. (Of course, if you started slacking since third quarter/second semester, and have two Cs… well, it still doesn’t matter).

It’s hard to get a rescinded admission. Just don’t get convicted for a felony and you’ll be fine.

My school uses a percentage system so how would it work? I’ve dropped a percent to 94 so far in a month since decisions came out. How much more scope is there for slacking without fear.

p.s. I have a Penn scholarship which I dont want to send down the drain too.

You’re fine man.

A C is like 73-77%. Don’t get too many of those.

Dude, final school report is important, but it’s not THAT important. They just wanna see that you’re not slacking off too much. If your average is an A but second semester you have Cs, Ds or Fs, that’s bad. But anything else is fine. (I just finished my freshman year in Engineering)

good good, thats nice to know. THanks for all the feedback!!
