Okay, so I have already committed to UIUC as a chemistry major and I was accepted on Feb 13th like most were, and I am afraid I may get kicked out when they see my final transcripts. First semester I had all As and B’s, and my class rank barely changed. However at this point it looks like I am going to get a C in AP Statistics. I find that class to be extremely difficult, and I have tried very hard, but I cannot get a B. I have all As and B’s in my other classes. IF I have a C in AP statistics for second semester will they kick me out? BTW I am very good at math, and I have a B+ in AP Calculus BC, but stats is very difficult for me for some reason.
Not likely to get rescinded. AP statistics is a tough class for most people, and the adcoms recognize this. If your other classes slipped significantly they might want to talk to you about it, though.
Okay. All of my regular classes were A’s and all of my honors classes were B’s. Except for AP stats most likely being a C this semester. @MidwestDad3
You’re fine. If universities rescinded everyone who got a C in statistics it would be chaos!!!
@MidwestDad3 I bet!! Our class average is like a 78!
I attended one of the admitted student dinners in March and the campus rep said that if you have generally been an A and B student and second semester you get a C… It won’t matter.
Go to the UIUC admissions blog and search for keyword ‘rescind’
Lots of references there and you will get a real good sense of how unlikely they are to actually rescind someone. It does happen, but they are very hesitant to do so.
@jasminewashere7 Okay. Thank god. Because being kicked out of a school after committing would be awful.
I got a D in AP calc back in the day and they didn’t say anything (I also had A’s in the rest of my classes).
Hey, so I have some good and somewhat bad news!!! We got our final grades for AP stats, and I ended up getting an 82!!! I went from a 79 to an 82 after taking our final 2 test! I am so happy. However my grade for honors humanities is still up in the open. I have an 83.44, and we have had some very tough assignments lately. I’m just so happy that stats is a B!! If humanities ends up being a C then it would suck, but English has never been my strongest, and I think UIUC would understand
Shouldn’t be that big an issue. I know someone who’s grades slipped during his last semester in high school. UIUC didn’t ‘kick him out’, but he was on probation for his first semester. Ended up doing just fine his first semester and the probation was lifted thereafter.
