Finalizing my list of LACs...Any suggestions?

My stats are mediocre at best:

UW GPA: 3.25
Weighted GPA: 4.2

Slow upward trend.

Rank: 207/1140 (top 18% i think)

SAT: 1320 (700v 620m) - retaking tomorrow.
SAT IIs: Writing - 740
US Hist - 730
Literature - 700

ACT - 30 - retaking next saturday and expecting a 32.

AP scores:

Euro - 5
US - 5
Human Geo - 5
English Lang/comp - 4
World Hist - 4
Music theory - 3

My schedule has been quite rigorous. The only exception is that instead of taking calculus my senior year, i’m taking AP statistics. Also, i’m not taking a 4th science. I’ve taken many extra AP humanities classes, though.

ECs:

-Guitar - i’ve won numerous awards including 1st place in north houston guitar center competition. Also played on a semi-local movie soundtrack.

-Violin - concert master in 9th grade, played in the symphony and full orchestras.

-Varsity hockey all 4 years and AA ice hockey in 9th grade - had to quit because of an injury.

-Co-ambassador for France - MUN

-Coordinator of govt. affairs (Amnesty)

-Co-president of politics club

-1 of 3 members of a state ranked literary criticism team

I have others, but those are the important ones.

Anyway, down to business…

Here is my list so far:

1) Vassar - ED II
2) Kenyon
3) Macalester
4) University of Texas - Austin
5) University of Vermont
6) Bard
7) Skidmore

I guess what i’m looling for is 1 more school that is a safety or at least a match that fits the general profile of these schools, as pretty much every school on that list with the exception of UVM and Skidmore is a slight reach to reach.

Thanks.

Nearly all the midwest ones except Grinnell and Oberlin.

I strongly recommend Denison. Like Kenyon, it’s a very good liberal arts college in Ohio with a strong national reputation. It would be a safety for you.

Try Goucher in Maryland or Wheaton in Mass- both are similar in feel and student body to Skidmore, but are somewhat less competitive. In the midwest, you might like Lawrence U, Earlham, or Knox. I also agree with Wolfman about Denison as a possibility. Good luck!

I concur with the suggestions above. I suggest that you also add the College of Wooster and Beloit College to the mix. Both would be a match/safety given your academic qualifications.
