Finally, a product that works...

kathiep, I found lemi-shine at Target. My grocery stores don’t carry it either.

I will have to look out for this lemi shine.

My biggest excitement last year was a new electric can opener that also has a little gadget that makes opening that dreadful hard plastic packaging that things come in nowadays a breeze. My husband and I get almost giddy with excitement every time we use it. Sad really. Makes me think I need to get a life or something.

My D took a crayon and decided to color in the groove portion of the tongue & groove walls of our home. The marks are slowly becoming less noticable, now years & years later! Not sure how she even fit the crayon in the narrow groove!

Oh, HImom, has this D moved out of the house yet? If so, I’ll bet it’s kind of nice to look now at the crayon marks with nostalgia.

Bon Ami is the best cleanser for stainless steel sinks, too! And stainless pots and pans.

Gotta get some Lemi-shine. Question: Do you buy the Lemi-shine itself, or do you get the Lemi-shine rinse for the dishwasher?

Greased Lightening all purpose cleaner from Home Depot.

When I can’t get the baked whatever out of a dish that has sat too long, I put hot water and dry dishwasher detergent and leave to soak for an hour. It works great. Any brand will do.

Mr. Clean Erasers are amazing.

I like Barkeepers Friend cleanser for my stainless steel kitchen ware.

I bought the Lemi-shine itself, I didn’t even know they had a rinse. Oooh, the excitement builds!

ShamWows!!!

Barkeepers friend - great on stainless steel, stainless cookware and even got the gray marks off an old set of stoneware dishes.

Signature polish - Came with my new oven - the best I’ve ever used for polishing the stainless appliances.

SCI granite cleaner (Home Depot sells) - For whatever reason ten times better than the others.

Bona system - for cleaning wood floors. REALLY works.

Cushy cupboards - Best shelf liners I’ve ever used. Makes it easy to slide things, cushions fragile items and easy to wipe.

swimcatsmom, please reveal the name of that can opener that cuts through the hard plastic packaging!!!

It’s a Hamilton Beach openstation and it has a little doodad that stores in the bottom that you can slide out and use to cut open the hard plastic packaging, it’s kind of a protected blade. You slide it down the side of the plastic (clam shell) packaging and voila!. It really works. Apparently it can be used for opening bottles too but I have never used it for that. The great thing (in my household) is that it stored i the bottom of the opener so does not get lost like so many things do in my house. It also has a jar opener on the top but we have not used that as much.

Who’d have thought one of my frustrations in life as I got older would be fighting my way into various packaging!

Spot Shot carpet cleaner.

Love this thread. Thanks for all the great tips.

What can I use to clean the scuff marks off the paint on my walls? It’s flat coat off white and impossible to sponge down (just absorbs water/liquid). Even bleach spray cleaner doesn’t do anything.

Any thoughts on informercial products? I want to know if the Pedi-Egg really works. ;)

SpotShot was the only product that was able to remove cat barf from my light gray carpet!

Nature’s Miracle was the only thing that was able to clear out the stinky dog smell from the blanket we used to haul our pooch when he was very ill.

Bona floor cleaner keeps my hardwoods spotless without back-breaking work.

Can anyone suggest a good cleaner for wood cabinets (kitchen)? Murphy’s Oil Soap doesn’t do a very good job in my estimation. Leaves a sticky film. I need to get the greasy fingerprints and fine greasy buildup off my cabinet fronts and I don’t want to spend all day and tons of elbow grease for an unsatisfactory result. Thanks!

I promised my Mom I’d clean the cabinets – but can’t find anything that works. They are sticky where you open them (they don’t have knobs) and nothing works. I’m afraid some things will strip the finish off. They’re really grungy and I just can’t find anything that works (including Murphys Oil). THANKS!!

Not in the home cleaning category but a product I recently discovered that I love is Dove Clinical Strength antiperspirant. This stuff really works. You apply it at night so it has time to work, and you don’t ruin the armpits in silk blouses anymore.

Rosieoney: Try a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water.

I use Magic Erasers to clean the greasy residue on my kitchen cabinets. Works great!
