FINALLY! The FDA is proposing new rules to regulate ALL nicotine delivery systems [ E-Cigarettes+ ]

“The regulatory blueprint, with broad implications for public health, the tobacco industry and the nation’s 42 million smokers, would also cover pipe tobacco and cigars, tobacco products that have long slid under the regulatory radar and whose use has risen sharply in recent years.”

Its about time!!!

Things are not always as they seem. That 2009 law was touted as a major crackdown on tobacco, but in Congress it was known as the Marlboro Protection Act of 2009 and was largely written by Marlboro lobbyists. It severely restricted upstart competitors and alternate nicotine delivery products from chipping away at Marlboro’s solidly-established market-leading brand. The media missed the real story of the law and what would seemingly be a head-scratching decision by Marlboro to allow FDA regulation of tobacco – something the cigarette companies had fought for decades.

I wonder if these new FDA regulations crack down on pharma’s nicotine delivery systems? :)

Man, talk about waiting until all the horses have been tramping around before thinking about maybe the barn door should be shut–the FDA is slowly and tentatively starting to work on this long after the kids and young adults are thinking this is such a cool thing and great way to make money (selling these devices and the “juice”). Hope they hurry up and come up with GOOD regs that are comprehensive and helpful. The kids are really starting to use these devices more & more. The devices are used to basically free-base nicotine or whatever else is put into the devices, including ICE (methanphetamine).

Comon Sense is ALWAYS there, it does not have to be approved / regulated by FDA. Kids might be reminded about it every so often. Parents who are using common sense themselves even remind about it their adult children. I do not see anything wrong with that. Why to wait for the FDA regulation? FDA does not make any difference in the usage of the Common Sense.

Interesting point Miami. Waiting for common sense regulation is kinda crazy and ensures a very long wait. The devices exist and the users will use them regulated or not.
