Finance major at a SUNY school. Worthless?

After receiving an A.A. degree from a local community college (for location and cheaper classes that transfer for equivalent credits), I am aspiring to receive a B.A. in Finance from a SUNY school. The pros of this are simple enough: it is again a local school and it offers a respectable education at a modest price. I am here to find out more:

What is the value of a major at a decent SUNY school, what kind of job opportunity is there? I could get an entry level job at a bank at 15/hr., anything more prestigious?

What level of difficulty is the Finance major?

What kind of GPA should I maintain to get a decent job?

Any stories of similar paths are more than welcome.

Which SUNY?

Specifically SUNY New Paltz, but who knows? Maybe Oswego… anything in the southeastern part of New York is possible.
