Finance Major colleges

I’m looking to study finance and economics in college, but my GPA is around 2.95 so I can’t get into a really good schoo, but I’m curious what are some schools that I should look at (preferably on the west coast) that have good programs in these fields?

can you get into any college with a 2.65? I dont think you can

ooops i meant 2.95

Arizona, Arizona State, San Diego State.

It depends on your SAT as well, though.

Even with that GPA it will be REALLY tough to get into a college. Unless your SAT is VERY good. Try going to a community college and transfer to a 4-year

With that GPA all the schools you mentioned, KinhJames23, will be super-reaches for him.

Avg. GPA @ U of A: 3.44 <a href=“Yahoo | Mail, Weather, Search, Politics, News, Finance, Sports & Videos”>Yahoo | Mail, Weather, Search, Politics, News, Finance, Sports & Videos;

Avg. GPA @ ASU: 3.3 <a href=“Yahoo | Mail, Weather, Search, Politics, News, Finance, Sports & Videos”>Yahoo | Mail, Weather, Search, Politics, News, Finance, Sports & Videos;

Avg. GPA @ SDSU: 3.5

alright yeah, you’re right… i would just like to know then what i should look for so i don’t waste time looking at the wrong colleges.

Community College, then transfer ur sophomore year, save $$$

ok. does anyone know of any community colleges then (better ones) with decent business or finance programs? because i would like to have the best education i can get

it depends where you live, you’re probably not going to move somewhere just because they have a better business program. just researcg into some of your local community colleges and check out which ones have better placement rates to 4-year universities and choose that one. some JC’s even have special honors program that guarantee you a spot at a specific college if you meet certain requirements. for example, at my local JC, if you maintain a 3.7 or higher GPA in the honors program, then you are guaranteed a spot at UCLA.

but i would like to go to a bigger city or at least near one because where i am at now is such a boring place, im looking for schools along the west coast as well

I dont know if u know this r22pl, but LA is a BIG city, and it is also on the West coast.

i think you’re getting yourself confused… yeah i live on the west coast… i live in a small town though, thats why i want to move but i want to stay on the west coast…i said i would like to move to a bigger city because he said look at my local jc’s. i’ve been to LA multiple times before i know its big. now explain what you were trying to tell me and why because it didnt make sense

I think the point of a community college is to attend a local one. Just like high school. Some might go to a private high school because the program is “better,” but I think you would agree that most just decide to go to the one closest to their home. Go to a CC in your county. Then you can think of transferring to college somewhere in LA. So I believe convenience is the factor, not the program. You never see rankings of community colleges for their programs. It’s the best option you have I think until you transfer.

yeah but i dont think it matters that much, if i can find a community college elsewhere ill go… im just saying i dont want to live where i am now anymore, besides ill try to find a community college with good universities nearby so that it will be easy for me to transfer

Santa Monica Community College has the best placement record in California of graduates to 4-year universities. It also boasts the best transfer rate to UCLA. Sanat Monica is in the middle of LA, so it definetly is a big city.

but they dont offer housing do they? because i dont live near santa monica

JCs dont offer housing. Just go to ur local JC, it doesnt really matter. Just do well, thats all.

what are you talking about??? i know of at least 5 that offer housing without even searching for any

Well I’ve never heard of one offering housing. I dont think u need to trip out about the best JC thats not in ur area. Just go to the one thats closest.
