Financial Aid = Acceptance?

I was wondering, if a college sends you an email regarding a financial aid package, does that mean you have been accepted to that college? I receive an email from Rice saying they need me to verify that I'm a citizen but I won't hear from the admissions office until April 1st. Could I have already been accepted?

Not necessarily. Any school that receives federal funds are required to verify a a random percentage (I beleive it is 30%) of their financial aid applications.

It could mean that you have been selected for admissions or it just means that your file was picked at random for their verification process.

Guess you will have to wait until 4/1 to find out. I hope that it all turns out well for you
