Is it common/possible to be receiving some financial aid and be involved in a fraternity? I will probably be working a little bit in the work study program. However, I don’t know if that will prohibit me from being involved in a frat. Also, what are the costs when involved in a frat?

I’m actually in a similar situation, I’m in a sorority and yet on financial aid and doing work study, I wouldn’t call it “common” but it certainly exists. I can’t really speak for the frats but I know that Panhel, at least, also offers scholarships that you can apply for to help pay your dues. I’d guess that frat dues are in the upper hundreds or around the 1000 mark per semester, though, so they are a bit steep (they’re more expensive than sororities, prob due to alcohol costs and stuff like that). I would definitely suggest rushing, at least, regardless of whether you think you can afford a frat because for guys, at least, it’s pretty much a giant party. They don’t really tell you the specifics of the dues and everything until the end, anyways, pretty much (or at least that’s how it worked with girl’s rush). Hope this helped.
