Financial Aid Appeal Form

I have exhausted my financial aid, but need the help and my financial aid adviser encouraged me to appeal because she knows how much I am in need I would like to know if this is an appropriate request if not please feel free to let me know

To Whom it may concern (Who Exactly am I Addressing for this matter???):
I would like to start off with a “Thank You” for allowing me to receive my education with the financial support that was provided for me I am very grateful to have the opportunity to expand my skills, knowledge and opportunity through your support. However, my financial situation has changed drastically since Spring 2015.
I have been residing in a Woman’s shelter with my 3 year old daughter, I was living in a hostile environment for the year, and struggling to maintain my schooling. During the Summer 2015 I finally summoned the courage to freedom and left to become more independent for my daughter and I, despite not having anywhere to go. Although, I face a tough situation I have been determined to remain in school, as education is very important to me and I refuse to quit. Currently, I am still a full time student and attending classes regularly. Thus, my daughter and I are struggling to get back on our feet, FASFA is a sole purpose of me staying in school, and being able to someday use my education to make a difference in my child’s life and the life of others.

In light of my current situation and the information I have provided,I would greatly appreciate if I could be contacted to know what additional paperwork and information I can provide to make reconsideration a possibility.

Thank you for your attention
Sincerely,
XXX(My Name)

As an advisor, I see these appeals all the time. Your explanation is fairly typical. Whether they are granted or not is up to your school’s financial aid office. Nobody on here can tell you whether it will or will not be granted; submit it and see what happens. Good luck!

Thank you, is there anything I could do to make statement stand out? My other options was to attach a letter of residency from the shelter I have been staying at.
