Financial Aid Appeal Process

I have to fax a appeal letter off tommorrow because i got below the gpa …i need to know do i need to be honest and just write about how i had two tutors and extra work and still couldnt get threw the course …i need help

thanks

If you’re asking whether to be honest or make excuses, be honest.

The appeals committee will want to know what caused the problems & what you are doing to make sure this doesn’t happen again. It is helpful if you can talk to an academic advisor & come up with a plan for courses that might work well for you. The more you can show what you have learned from this & how you will change as a result, the better your chance of having the appeal okay’d.

Assuming you got less than a C in this course, if you offer to retake it at your own expense this summer (perhaps as an online through your school), would they consider replacing or at least averaging the grade? Definitely be honest and candid with them, get input from your advisor, and be willing to do whatever it takes to make up for your shortcoming! If they say no, try to negotiate for a probationary period - you lose your award for a certain period until you restore your GPA to acceptable levels. Which would be better than losing it permanently!

Thanks this info helped alot!
