Financial Aid Appeal

So, I’m in the process of appealing my financial aid termination (maximum time frame was the reason I was given), and the FA office wants a written statement as to why I haven’t yet completed the requirements for my degree program complete with documentation.

The reason why I haven’t completed it yet is because 2 years ago, when I last attended the school, there were two separate semesters where I ended up missing a large chunk of my classes due to having to take care of my mother and hold down a full time job, and because my professors were less than understanding, I withdrew instead of taking an F. My question is, what kind of documentation should I submit with my written statement pertaining to my mother’s illness that doesn’t violate her patient privilege with her doctor?

Your mother is free to reveal anything she wants about her health status. It’s her info, she has the right to reveal what she wants. There’s no laws about that. If your mom wants to provide copies of documentation to the school, she can.
