Dear Financial Aid Committees,
Please accept this letter as an appeal to continue receiving financial aid. I lost financial aid eligibility due to low grades during Fall 2016 and Spring 2017.
In hopes to save money, I decided to commute and shared a car with my brother. However, due to our schedule conflict, I often missed classes when his sudden work schedule changed. I believe it was also because I was not fully prepared for going back to school after two years of discontinuing and taking on more than I could handle. I was working 20 hours a week, spend most of my time on badminton practice for the tournament from 6pm-10pm, then went to Vietnamese Students Association meeting and dance practice for the Culture Show from 10pm-midnight. I wanted to fully experience the college life and got sidetracked from my school work.
In order to continue taking courses, I need financial aid. My plan is to retake all of the classes that I had failed to bring up my GPA. To assure that my academic progress improves, I will seek help from tutor program here at VCU.I will meet up with my professor during the office hours to ensure that I understand the material. I have created a schedule for at least 30 hours per week for studying. I’m only going to work 10-15 hours per week, not going to badminton practice until I’m done with my homework/studying, and I’m not going to be in the VSA Culture Show this year to focus more on my studying. Furthermore, I’m moving on campus so I won’t be needing transportation.
Thank you for your time and consideration of my appeal. I don’t want to disappoint my mom because she was so proud of me as the first person in the family to graduate from high school and go to college. Please give me a second chance with financial aid to let my mom see me walk on my graduation from VCU.
Sincerely,
