Financial Aid Award letter

This was my aid summary for Penn state OOS costs for 2016-2017 year:

Enrollment By Term:
Fall 2016 - Full-Time
Spring 2017 - Full-Time
Summer 2017 - Full-Time

Total Costs: $7202
Total Aid Awarded: $10,965.00
Remaining Eligibility: $61,267.00

What does the remaining eligibility mean ?

what you have to pay

Something doesn’t sound right. Penn St doesnt have a COA that is $61k+

Are you sure that is all your award letter says?

What does it say for loans, grants, scholarships, work study, etc.

Why are they including summer? That could be what is getting the COA to $61k

It sounds like Penn State gave you about $11,000 in aid for the FULL year…and the total cost, including summer…is $61,000.

So…take summer out of the equation. That would give. You roughly $7000 total for the academic year. You woild be paying the rest.

In some schools, they offer admission with summer bridging program requirement in some case. Not sure if that applies to OP.

It is for the following summer, 2017.

Is this a typo? Should it be $72,232? That would make the math work, and you would have to come up with $61,267. Seems steep, looks like out of state should be around $45,000 for an academic year. Are they on quarters (so above is academic year) or semesters (so above is calendar year)? I couldn’t see that with a quick google

sorry its $72020. Also I am not doing summer 2017 so idk why they added that.

Seems expensive

What program is that? Penn State doesn’t cost that much in a year, even OOS

Penn state did the same exact thing for me, they included summer of 2017 and i have no idea why. Just ignore that in my opinion.
