Financial Aid Award Question

Hi! I received a 29500 dollar financial aid package this year-a 25000 dollar gap between my award and the cost of education . I stated that I’ll be living on campus. I found out that Tuition is actually 35500 dollars(without housing). So, I was thinking that commuting to campus would be a better option than student loans or paying 2803 dollars a month(via Bruin Pay Plan). So, I’m thinking of canceling my housing contract so I’ll only pay 626 dollars a month via the BPP.

If I cancel my housing contract now, will my financial aid package diminish or will it stay the same? And how can I cancel my housing contract?

sorry if my situation seems complicated.

I doubt your financial aid package will completely diminish, but you’ll definitely receive less than what you are receiving right now. I’m not completely sure, but I think you’ll receive somewhere around the ballpark of $8,000 less. (Total fees for residence hall users - total fee for commuters)

You should trying calling housing services when you can. They can give you more concrete answers.

thanks NooBruin!
