<p>This is a blog entry on communicating with financial aid at Rochester. They seem to really encourage communication. Our FA counselor was super nice.</p>
<p>My son is still waiting for his financial aid notice - should be coming any day now. I read the intro to blog - seems to make sense.</p>
<p>I am curious to see the kind of chatter it generate compard to CC.</p>
<p>AsI I said in my previous post, I am curious to see to what folks say on the UR blog.</p>
<p>Nothing yet. So, I left a comment. At least I thought I did. It initially said my comment would be “moderated”. I assume this is something to prevent anything too personal or inappropriate from being posted. But now I can’t even see my comment, and the blog say “No Comments Yet”.</p>
<p>I wonder if there is a problem with the blog that UR is not aware of.</p>
<p>Moderated means the post must be approved on whoever is in charge of blog before it appears. Generally this is done to prevent the posting of spam by bots and the use inappropriate (i.e. scatological and obscene) language.</p>
<p>Moderation is not automatic and requires the attention of an actual human being who may or may not be checking potential postings closely or simply may other duties (and a non online life) and can’t approve posts instantly.</p>

I have been answering questions on here for a little while, but wanted to make sure you were aware that I am here and happy to post as needed. I am a member of the UR Financial Aid staff and happy to help by posting information. I just wanted to make sure everyone was aware that Financial Aid awards go out approximately 1 week after Merit notifications are sent. A more accurate timeline is about 2 weeks after the Admissions decision. Moreover, all awards will be sent by April 1. I encourage you that if you believe you should have received it by now, contact the office to make sure they have everything needed to process your application. I hope this is helpful.</p>

<p>@HRNesmith - quick question…so merit awards are not sent with the admit offer? That conflicts with what someone said on another thread…if it send later, when does it usually arrive? Also, does the need-based aid arrive roughly 7-10 business days after your admit offer was mailed or after you actually receive it. For instance, my offer was mailed 3/23, but I only received it on 3/26. Does this mean I get the fin aid info 2 weeks from 3/23 or from 3/26? Thanks!

<p>You will always receive information about your merit award first, however when the Financial Aid Award is sent approximate 7 days later, the Merit will be apart of the Financial Aid package. </p>
<p>Instead of answering your second question I will say that even with the 7 day delay, our goal is to get it out by April 1st or as close to April 1st without having the Financial Aid notification arrive before any Merit information.</p>

<p>No, now that it is after April 1 we are trying to get it to you as soon as we can. It may be 3 days or so after any Merit information. If you want to call the office, the person who answers the phone can tell you if we have all the documentation required. I hope this is helpful.</p>
<p>A quick question…are International students who have been accepted and have received a Merit Award, qualified for Financial Aid? Thanks!</p>
<p>Did you apply for financial aid? </p>
<p>If you did it will depend on your family’s financial situation, it does not matter if you are international, the university has it’s own resources to offer some financial aid to those who can demonstrate need.
If you did not apply you should contact Fin Aid services, you may still be on time to apply.
